Sitting on the Queensland–New South Wales border, surrounded by vast cotton farms and the slow curve of the Macintyre River, the town that gave Goondiwindi Cotton its name is well worth a visit — even though these days you can get their clothes easily at one of 200 stockists around Australia or online.
It all started in the early 1990s, when local cotton farmer Sam Coulton started thinking about the end products of his cotton harvest and decided to have a go at it himself. The first pieces were simple — polos and T-shirts that were produced with the help of local seamstresses and students in nearby Boggabilla. More than 30 years later, the brand is thriving — all testament to one farmer who decided to move outside of his comfort zone!
