At just 23 years old, Darcy Gifford has already signed with a model agency and has her sights set on an international modelling career. She’s just wrapped up shooting the fashion feature for Graziher’s upcoming October/November issue, so we took the opportunity to get to know her a little better.

1. Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?
I basically grew up on the beach in the beautiful Noosa region in Queensland. I’m constantly moving around but I’m currently based in Byron Bay.

2. What advice would you give to other women who want to pursue a career in modelling?
I think you have to be brave enough to dare to have the dream in the first place and then be consistent and put in the hard work, but also remember to have fun!

3. How did your career begin? What do you love about modelling and what are the biggest challenges?
I always wanted to be a model. My parents have a cosmetic distribution company and I grew up around the beauty industry. When the time was right, I was introduced to my amazing agent Johanna at Vivien’s Models. The best part about the industry is working with great brands and publications and meeting lots of talented people. The more challenging parts are being prepared mentally and physically, and having the stamina to get through the long shoot days.

4. This was your first shoot for Graziher. Was it what you expected?
It was an unforgettable experience! I love how the shoot embraced the country vibe and it was set in a great location with a fantastic team.

5. Do you have a favourite place to visit in the bush?
I love Carnarvon Gorge, north of Roma in Queensland, because of its sheer beauty and rich cultural history.

6. If you had to choose between a bag or shoes, what would you choose?
I’d choose shoes because they can elevate any outfit, adding a stylish touch and transforming your look no matter what you’re wearing.

7. What are your fashion essentials?
Low waisted bootleg jeans will forever be my ride or die. I love that I can wear them more casually during the day and dress them up for night.

8. Any skincare or makeup secrets to share with Graziher?
Less is more, always. I prefer a minimalist approach with skin-like products for a natural look. My must haves are definitely a lip oil and SPF, they’re essential for maintaining a fresh and protected complexion.

9. Where would you like to be in 10 years time?
I hope to be living overseas and working as a model and in the beauty industry.

10. You are also renovating a house (which looks amazing). What’s that experience been like?
My family has a house in Byron Bay, and I’ve been project managing the interior design – something I’ve always been passionate about! I’ve really enjoyed leaning into my love of design and transforming the space into something spectacular.
