The marriage joined two families with a long history of woolgrowing in the Mid North region of South Australia.

Mount Ngadjuri in South Australia holds a special place in the hearts of Molly Noonan and her husband Daniel Clark.

Not only is it the meeting point of their family farms, where the couple grew up just 10 kilometres apart, but it’s also where Daniel, now 27, proposed to Molly, 25, during a Sunday drive to check sheep. “We stopped on a hill that overlooks both of our properties, and Daniel proposed right there,” Molly recalls. “It was simple and meaningful for us.”

The pair now live together in Jamestown, South Australia, about 20 kilometres south of both farms, where they each still work alongside their relatives. The Noonan and Clark families both have long histories in the area. Molly’s 2000 hectare property, Hornsdale Props, has been in the family since 1896 and runs 5000 sheep, while Daniel’s family has been farming at Mannanarie since 1872. Their family farming business, Clark Bros, covers around 3200 hectares with cropping and livestock.

“Daniel works full time on the farm with his dad, as well as his cousins Pat and Ben, and their dads,” Molly explains. “It’s a real family effort: everyone’s involved, and it’s not uncommon to see three generations working side by side.”

Like the many generations before them, the couple have a strong connection to wool, so their shared roots in the industry played a role on their wedding day.

The ceremony was held on Molly’s family property, with the reception in a machinery shed on Daniel’s farm. Their wedding was threaded with small details, from Molly’s custom-made merino wool gown by Nikki Atkinson from Horrocks Vale Collections to elements such as a wooden wool table, shearing shed tally board, and a thoughtfully crafted wool-bale bar menu.

“It was important to us that wool had a presence at our wedding — a nod to our heritage and the industry so central to our lives.” Tess, Molly’s mum, and Molly’s grandmother Rhonda, along with Daniel’s mum, Therese, also wore wool outfits made for the big day.

“We chose the spot for our wedding during a water run one day,” says Molly. “We both looked out at the view and just knew this was the place.”

“I loved the idea of a wool wedding dress,” Molly explains. “Nikki is amazing at creating something perfect for you, and wool is such a beautiful, natural choice.”

Molly’s bespoke dress was crafted in luxurious Australian merino wool, Nikki Atkinson’s signature fabric. “Merino wool is superfine, with an elegant drape that moves beautifully with the body,” Nikki tells Graziher.

Nikki believes Australian wool is one of bridal’s best-kept secrets. “It’s incredibly breathable and regulates body temperature naturally. It was perfect for Molly’s warm wedding day, as it actually pulls heat away from the body. “Wool is not just beautiful, it’s smart. It keeps you cool, it moves with you, and it leaves a lighter footprint.”

Even amid the worst drought South Australia has ever recorded, there was a certain beauty and strength in Molly and Daniel’s wedding day: a true celebration of their interwoven connection to the land, their heritage and each other.
