When it comes to her own wardrobe, Lizzie Walsh prefers to keep things simple — and natural.
After spending several years in Saudi Arabia, Lizzie Walsh returned to Australia and embarked on a new career, as a stylist specialising in smaller, independent labels. Lizzie, who lives in Brookfield on the outskirts of Brisbane, loves a western look and will always prioritise classic garments that are designed to endure. Years ago, that may not have been a number-one priority among her fellow stylists, but she says times are changing.
“The fashion world is now really paying attention and making sure they produce clothes that last for years. We are all now very aware of how bad fast fashion is,” she says. When calling in pieces for a Graziher shoot, Lizzie seeks out natural fibres and brands known for their craftsmanship, including Cable.

She admits her day-to-day looks tend to be more simple than the layered ones she pulls together for the magazine. If there’s a chill in the air, she says she’s likely to layer with classic wool pieces, such as a Superfine Merino Singlet from Cable’s Heritage 365 collection. Made from the finest Australian wool, garments in Cable’s Heritage 365 collection harness the unique thermo-regulating properties of Merino wool and are designed to be worn year-round.
Cable is one of many smaller, family-owned labels that Lizzie learned of when she moved back to Australia eight years ago. In fact, she was pulling together looks for one of Graziher’s annual Wool Specials when she first got her hands on the Woolmark-certified Heritage 365 range. “I always look forward to the Cable collection arriving,” she says. “The pieces are incredible and are made so well. I look at their wool jackets in particular and think how easily you can plan what to wear around just a few key items.”
Take care of your Merino layers (always wash garments inside out) and Lizzie says they will see you through many seasons to come. “Once you have them, you will find yourself wearing them all the time,” she says. “They are heirloom pieces and you will always be able to find a place in your wardrobe for them.”
